A Rylami Resource

Between Two Homes

Your child doesn’t have to carry the conflict.

Family change can leave children holding questions, worries, and feelings they don’t always know how to explain. Between Two Homes was created to give families a gentler way to talk about separation, divorce, co-parenting, and the experience of moving between homes.

It keeps the child’s emotional world at the center—without asking them to choose sides.

Why it was created

Children notice more than adults sometimes realize.

When family structure changes, children may worry about where they belong, whether they are allowed to love both parents, what will happen next, or whether the conflict is somehow their responsibility.

Between Two Homes is designed to help adults make room for those feelings without putting children in the position of managing adult problems.

This resource can help families:

  • Give children words for confusing or mixed emotions.
  • Reinforce that children are allowed to love the important people in their lives.
  • Create safer conversations about transitions between homes.
  • Reduce pressure on children to take sides or carry messages.
  • Build connection during a period that may feel uncertain.
